How to Integrate CBD to Overcome Mental Fatigue
16 January 2025Sleep is a natural process susceptible to disturbances caused by various organic, psychological, or environmental factors. It constitutes an essential moment of rest and regeneration for living organisms, contributing to both physical and mental renewal. On average, adults need about 7-8 hours of sleep per night, during which the body slows down its physiological functions: temperature decreases, metabolism slows down, blood pressure stabilizes, and tissues regenerate. Moreover, an adequate number of hours of sleep promotes memory revitalization and enables us to be more alert and attentive during the day.
Sleep disorders are a widespread issue that significantly impacts people's quality of life. According to recent studies, approximately 30% of the global population suffers from sleep disorders, leading to physical and mental health problems.
Recent research has investigated the efficacy of cannabis, particularly cannabidiol (CBD), as a potential therapeutic solution for managing insomnia. CBD appears to positively influence sleep through muscle relaxation and anxiety reduction. Furthermore, the benefits of CBD have a lesser impact compared to traditional medications that may cause dependence or daytime drowsiness. Its targeted impact on the endocannabinoid system thus represents a more natural and less invasive approach compared to conventional therapies.
A 2014 study, conducted on patients with Parkinson's disease and reported in the Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics, demonstrated the efficacy of CBD in treating sleep disorders occurring during the REM (rapid eye movement) phase.
The research indicates that symptoms of the disorder decreased with CBD administration, and once the administration was discontinued, they returned. Furthermore, the analysis emphasizes that by interacting with the endocannabinoid system, particularly the CB1 receptor, CBD can stabilize the previously disrupted sleep-wake cycle.
